Serge Nubret was a professional bodybuilder born in Guadeloupe. In 1958 having returned to Guadeloupe, Serge decided to pursue a career in bodybuilding. After just 2 years of training Serge started talking about his dreams and intentions of becoming a World Champion. Many were amused and amazed by this claim. However staying true to his word, just two years later in 1960, Serge became the IFBB World Most Muscular Man in Montreal. This was just to be the start of an extremely successful career. From then, Serge began to win the most prestigious titles, including Mr Europe, Mr World and Mr Universe. He is a 6 time World Champion. Serge Nubret was quite an old school body builder, he concentrated on having an aesthetically pleasing physique rather than being a mass monster.
There was so much more to bodybuilding for Serge Nubret. It was not all about him and winning titles. Nubret was also interested in the development and promotion of bodybuilding. He became the head of the French and European IFBB bodybuilding federation from 1970 to 1975. Serge Nubret was also the founder of the WABBA in 1976. This affiliation was created to ensure affiliated athletes received the best support via associated organisations. Serge dedicated his life to the sport. In 1982, 22 years after his first World class achievement, Serge became the WABBA World Champion in Rome. Serge Nubret was truly a spectacular athlete and was well respected within the community.
He offered his expertise on many Bodybuilding forums and was always happy to give aspiring bodybuilders his help and knowledge. In 2003, at the age of 65, he put on a stunning last show to his fans during the World Championships in France. This shows that his legacy lived on and will continue to inspire others. He was truly a formidable athlete and touched so many lives in a positive way. Serge Nubret, Caribbean1st absolutely salutes you.
