Taking place on the last Sunday of October each year, Jounen Kweyol, otherwise known as Creole Day, is an important date on the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. Paying homage to the island’s rich heritage, this exciting festival has been taking place since 1984. Jounen Kweyol promises a day filled with traditional food, music and folklore and the chance to discover the history and heritage of the island of Saint Lucia.
Join in the celebrations with the locals and sample traditional Saint Lucian cuisine which includes roasted breadfruit, Bouillon (fish, chicken or meat stew with dasheen, yams, plantain and dumplings) and green fig and salt fish (the national dish of Saint Lucia) and drinks such as guava juice and cocoa tea.
Music plays a key role on Jounen Kweyol with traditional Tambos (drums) being beaten whilst songs are sung in the Creole language and many local folk don their national dress to the party.
