Xander played for the Netherlands National Baseball team and signed as an amateur free agent with Boston Red Sox in 2009. Bogaerts has won many awards throughout his career. Having won the Baseball World Cup with his home country in 2011, he was inducted into the Order of Orange Nassau by the governor of Aruba. Bogaerts explained that it was an incredible feeling to have been knighted at such a young age. Bogaerts was also invited to meet with the King and Queen of the Netherlands when they visited Aruba. An experience which he said was a great honour.
In 2013, Xander Bogaerts made his Major League Basketball debut. A year later he was the starting shortstop and he helped the Red Sox to win the World Series Championship. Xander Bogaerts was presented with the American League Silver Slugger award in 2015 and again in 2016.

Xander has a twin brother, Jair who is also signed with the Red Sox as an international free agent. They have both always been interested in baseball. They have supported each other throughout their careers and even train together.

Bogaerts’s hometown of San Nicolas named a ballpark after him, complete with a photo of his smiling face atop the fence. Xander Bogaerts is intent on showing he belongs at the top of the Red Sox’ batting order.  Caribbean 1st absolutely salutes you.
We need your help

This page is not exclusive to those achievers that are in the public eye, in fact we intend to put the onus on those that the general public know very little about.

We need YOU to nominate: a family member, a friend or acquaintance, a group or even an organisation that has made great strides in their chosen field.
